Auto Body Technician
Job Description
We are looking for an auto body technician who is a skilled professional who repairs damaged vehicle body parts, including fenders, doors, hoods, and bumpers, by removing damaged components, straightening frames, filling dents, welding replacement parts, and refinishing the repaired areas to match the original vehicle paint. This essentially restores the vehicle's body to its pre-accident condition after a collision.
Responsibilities:
- Examines damaged vehicles and efficiently plans the repair process.
- Works and communicates with others on vehicle repair status.
- Performs quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
- Makes decisions on repair vs. replace, considering safety, cost, and cycle time.
- Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle and fenders.
- Participates in all required safety meetings.
- Files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
- Directs the work of an apprentice in performing tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions, and explains procedures to the assistant.
Job Requirements
- Ability to use a frame machine.
- Certification in body repair preferred.
- Knowledge of vehicle repair processes by manufacturer.
- I-CAR welding certified.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data.
- Ability to supervise repair personnel.
- Must be able to pass thorough background check
Additional Information
Employment Type: Full Time (Mon- Fri.)
Pay-Rate Ranges: $22.00/HR- $25.00/HR
Pay Range: $17-$85
