Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role involves managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Conduct account reconciliation, including balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
  • Perform financial report writing and interpretation for management review.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, securities law, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and assist in their professional development.
  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of financial records and adherence to policies.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero for various accounting functions.
  • Prepare tax filings and manage tax-related inquiries as needed.
  • Analyze cash flow and perform bank reconciliation to maintain optimal liquidity levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping and accrual accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
  • Experience with technical accounting issues related to private equity or governmental accounting is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts such as financial management, cash flow analysis, and account analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex financial data and preparing comprehensive reports.
