HVAC Service Technician
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and completing repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting abilities, exceptional customer service skills, and a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical components.
Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Service: Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal tune-ups on industrial and commercial HVAC units to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Diagnostics & Repair: Inspect systems, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures, and repair or replace defective components (e.g., compressors, motors, thermostats, valves, relays).

Refrigerant Handling: Test, recover, recharge, and handle refrigerants in strict compliance with EPA regulations.

System Testing: Calibrate system controls, test performance with diagnostic equipment (multimeters, pressure gauges), and ensure equipment meets manufacturer standards and local building codes.

Documentation & Record Keeping: Accurately document service calls, work completed, parts used, and time spent on job sites using electronic service logs or work orders.

Customer Relations: Clearly explain diagnostic findings and necessary repairs to customers, provide preventative maintenance recommendations, and deliver high-quality service.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, and local environmental standards. Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of an accredited HVAC technical training program or formal apprenticeship preferred.

Certifications:

EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal or Type I/II required).

State or local HVAC license (if required by state law).

NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is a plus.

Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.

Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
Skills & Competencies

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical circuits, gas piping, and airflow dynamics. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics.

Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic and analytical skills to isolate and fix system failures efficiently.

Communication: Friendly, professional communication and customer service skills.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, maneuver in tight/confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces), and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including participating in a rotational on-call schedule for emergency calls.
