Job Description
Pool lifeguards are trained safety professionals responsible for ensuring the well-being of swimmers and preventing accidents at aquatic facilities. They monitor pool activities, enforce safety rules, and act as first responders in emergencies.
Their day-to-day responsibilities typically include:
- Vigilant Surveillance: Scanning the water and deck area to spot swimmers in distress or prevent hazards before they happen.
- Rule Enforcement: Communicating pool policies clearly and redirecting patrons from dangerous behaviors like running or diving in shallow water.
- Emergency Response: Performing water rescues and administering CPR, AED, or first aid when necessary.
- Facility Maintenance: Conducting daily safety checks, keeping the pool deck clean, and occasionally monitoring water chemistry.
