Job Description
A Paving Crew Laborer performs general labor tasks on a paving crew, assisting with installation, repair, and maintenance of asphalt surfaces. This role involves physical labor, operating hand and power tools, and working under the supervision of a foreman.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with tasks like setting up forms, aligning and blocking, and preparing the area for paving.
- Shoveling, raking, and spreading asphalt and other materials.
- Using hand and power tools for tasks like raking, jackhammering, and other mechanical work.
- May operate basic construction equipment like tandem trucks or water trucks, as well as paving equipment.
- Performing physical labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment.
- Ensuring the work area is clean and safe at the end of the day, including cleaning the paver.
- Working under the supervision of a foreman or supervisor, following instructions and safety guidelines.
Job Requirements
- Physical Stamina: The job requires physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor tasks.
- Ability to Follow Instructions: Must be able to understand and follow directions from supervisors.
- Basic Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with hand and power tools used in construction.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and adhering to safety protocols on a construction site.
- Driver's License: May be required, especially for operating certain vehicles.
