Production Operator – Aerospace Paint Department
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Production Operator to join our Aerospace Paint Department. This full-time role involves preparing, mixing, applying, and finishing aerospace-grade coatings on various components in accordance with strict industry standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial painting or coatings, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety in a controlled manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Surface Preparation:
- Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of aerospace coatings.
- Mask and unmask components as required, following specifications and blueprints.
Paint Mixing & Application:
- Accurately mix paint systems per technical data sheets and work instructions.
- Apply primer, topcoat, and specialty coatings using spray guns or other application tools.
Quality Control:
- Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to ensure coating thickness, color, and finish meet aerospace standards.
- Document process steps and inspection results according to internal procedures and customer requirements.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate spray booths, curing ovens, and other related paint application equipment.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
Process Documentation:
- Maintain accurate production records and batch documentation in compliance with industry regulations.
- Follow written work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols.
Safety Compliance
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, including handling hazardous materials and wearing proper PPE.
- Work in accordance with OSHA, environmental, and aerospace industry standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with quality inspectors, supervisors, and team members to ensure on-time delivery and high-quality output.
- Communicate any defects, issues, or process improvements proactively.

Job Requirements

Experience: Previous experience in industrial painting, aerospace coatings, or a related production environment preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of paint systems, mixing ratios, and curing requirements.

Attention to Detail: Ability to detect surface imperfections and ensure a high-quality finish.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and wear protective equipment.

Certifications (Preferred): Knowledge of or certification in MIL-STD, NADCAP, or other aerospace coating standards is a plus.

Work Ethic: Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and commitment to safety and quality

Hours: 40–50 hours per week, with potential overtime

Pay Rate: Based on experience and skill level (discussed during interview)

Pay Range: $16.50 – $85.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and certifications

Work Environment: Climate-controlled, clean production area with exposure to chemicals and coatings (proper PPE provided)
