Job Description

  • Waste pickers collect household or commercial/industrial waste. 
  • They may collect from private waste bins or dumpsters, along streets and waterways or in dumps and landfills. 
  • Some rummage in search of necessities; others collect and sell recyclables to middlemen or businesses.

Job Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and carrying materials.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor including reaching, bending, grasping, pulling, climbing, and lifting. 
  • Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds at a time, observing proper lifting and carrying procedures.
  • Must be able to read labels on materials to determine redemption eligibility.

Additional Information

Pay-Rate Ranges $15.50/HR-$85.00/HR
