Job Description

A sandblaster job description involves operating specialized equipment to clean and prepare hard surfaces by propelling abrasive materials, such as sand, at high pressure.

 

    • Surface preparation: 
      Prepare and mask surfaces to be blasted, removing dirt, grease, rust, and old paint using abrasive blasting equipment. 
       
  • Equipment operation: 
    Load abrasive materials into the machine, set the pressure and composition of the abrasive mixture, and direct the blast over the surface of parts. 
     
  • Quality control: 
    Examine finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications and meet the desired finish. 
     
  • Maintenance: 
    Maintain sandblasting machinery and equipment, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure they are working effectively. 
     
  • Safety compliance: 
    Follow all safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others. 
     
  • Material handling: 
    Shovel or pour abrasives into the machine hopper and load parts onto racks, into cabinets, or tumbling barrels
