BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The basic functions of the packer is to pack all orders, assist the shears and slitting lines in completion of their orders, pack orders, pack orders for small packages (UPS &/ or FedEx) and truck shipments, and complete daily/ weekly maintenance and cleaning responsibilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Packer is required to report to:

-  Shop Supervisor 

-  General Manager 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Measure, weigh, and inspect all orders and annotate the measurements properly on the First and Last Article Inspection sheet.
• Accurately complete orders using the correct material. Packaging all items in the aspect as the company wants all packages complete.
• Pack all packages correctly to mitigate chances of damage in transit.
• Packing large / truck orders under the direction of the Inventory Controller or Shop Supervisor.
• Complete daily and weekly scheduled duties.
• Begin shift and schedule time. Call ahead if you will be more than 10 minutes late.
• Take a state mandated lunch of 30 minutes when working more than a 6HR shift.
• End shift at scheduled time. Obtain approval if working more than 5 minutes overtime.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  when handling material, Always handle material in a safe manner.

• Basic math skills and an understanding of fractions.
• Read and use tape measure and micrometer 
• Drive a forklift safely
• Lift 75lbs independently 
• Stand and walk continuously over an 8HR shift
